The Wayback Machine Website

The Wayback Machine is an internet archive website that takes a snapshot of most websites on various days throughout the year so that you can go back and look at what your favourite website looked like in the past even back in the 1990’s or early 2000’s.

This archive currently has 469 billion web pages saved over time.  I have used this site for several years with my students and they really enjoy exploring it.  It works great for a lesson on internet history, to show how websites have evolved and/or to highlight characteristics of effective website layouts.
